Hatigaon: At around 10.15 p.m. on Thursday, a major fire breaks out in Guwahati’s Hatigaon Chariali neighborhood, charring up to 25 homes.
The exact cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
According to sources, there were no casualties in the incident; however, properties worth several crores are believed to have been damaged.
Several eyewitnesses claimed to have heard six cylinders explode.
Meanwhile, fire trucks have arrived on the scene and the operation to extinguish the flames is underway.
A major fire broke out two days ago in Assam’s Dibrugarh. According to preliminary reports, at least one home has been completely destroyed by the flames.
The major fire is said to have started in the backyard of Kendriya Vidyalaya Dibrugarh, near the Dibrugarh deputy commissioner’s house in Chowkidingee.

On February 24 morning, a pall of gloom surrounded the area as residents came to see the damage caused by the fire. According to eyewitnesses, the fire was so intense that families were unable to secure their belongings, including documents and other valuables.
The majority of the affected families are day labourers living in rented housing.

On Thursday night, a major fire broke out at Ajanta Path in the Hatigaon area of Guwahati, displacing over 150 families.
According to sources, there were no casualties in the incident. However, it is believed that the fire damaged properties worth several lakhs.
The massive fire broke out around 10.30 p.m., completely destroying over 150 houses in the area.
