In the ongoing efforts to combat the APSC cash-for-job scam, a run away ACS officer linked to the scandal was apprehended on Wednesday night.
According to the sources, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) apprehended the implicated official in Guwahati’s Six Mile area. The individual in question is identified as Rakesh Das, holding the position of Assistant Employment Officer.
Afraid of being apprehended by the police, the accused official concealed himself in an uninhabited house and secured the entrance.
Upon arrest, reports suggest he was transported to Basistha Police Station, where he is anticipated to undergo intense questioning by the police.
Remarkably, the 34 civil servants apprehended had their names implicated in the inquiry report by Justice (retd) Biplab Kumar Sharma Commission.
In the beginning of this month, the Assam government commenced departmental proceedings against 34 officers from Assam Civil Service (ACS), Assam Police Service (APS), and other prestigious services, all of whom were selected by the APSC for the 2013 batch.
