Floods continue to batter large parts of Assam

The capital city of Assam, Guwahati, is seeing flash floods in several places with heavy showers battering through the city throughout Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Several places in the city such as Anil Nagar, Nabin Nagar, Chandmari, Hatigaon, Satgaon, and Panjabari are seeing floods. Floods in the areas are causing major inconvenience to the people with several roads submerged in flood waters.

Meanwhile, the Darrang district of the state is reeling under heavy floods with several villages inundated by the rising waters. People have been stuck in their homes at several spots amid the flood waters prompting the army as well as the disaster management authorities to carry out rescue missions.

Meanwhile, scores of people are being kept in relief camps across Assam. But now many people living in such relief camps are facing a crunch on essentials and supplies.
