In an unfortunate Dhubri Boat Accident, carrying nearly 75 people, including many school students, capsized in the Brahmaputra river in Assam. According to reports, A senior district official among several others is also missing, reported news agency PTI.
Personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are conducting search-and-rescue operations.

According to reports, a three-person team led by Dhubri circle officer Sanju Das went for field verification in the Aminer char area. In Buri, a boat accident occurred on the Brahmaputra river. Sanju Das, a Dhubri circle officer, was missing in the boat accident. Several other passengers have gone missing. Bhasani’s char was the location of the boat accident. The boat carried more than 20 passengers. Rescue operations are being carried out by the SDRF, NDRF, and the police.
According to the information received, a three-person team led by Dhubri circle officer Sanju Das went to the Aminer Char area for field verification. The accident occurred in Aylandjongla, where the Dhubri Phulbari bridge was being built.
The team, led by circle officers, included circle officer Sanju Das, Mandal Namez Uddin, and an assistant employee, Peter. The boat accident took place when Aminer was returning from char.
In 2020 ,a boat accident occurred in Dhubri’s Bilasipara leading to the missing of one passenger. Two passengers, both father, and son fell into the deep waters of Brahmaputra. However, the father Habez Ali narrowly escaped and recovered. Meanwhile, son Razaq Ali went missing.
On the other hand, in 2021 following a head-on collision with a ferry, a private boat capsized in the Brahmaputra river near Nimati Ghat in Assam’s Jorhat. Several passengers went missing. After being rescued from the river, a woman died in the hospital.
As many as 120 passengers were traveling in the boat when the incident happened, an official of the Inland Water Transport (IWT) Department.
