In the wake of the shocking road accident that took place in Balijan of Dergaon on January 3, another road accident has occurred again in Dergaon. This time it is a collision between a L.P truck and a bike rider.
As per the information received, a fatal accident involving a loaded truck and a bike rider has occurred on the road. Security personnel are present at the accident site, and the injured motorcycle rider has been rushed to the Dergaon Community Health Center for medical attention.
Reportedly, a Haryana-registered truck was coming towards Guwahati in the evening while a biker was heading towards the highway from the direction of Golaghat without giving any signal. As a result, the bike rider was thrown off the vehicle and in this accident, the bike rider lost his life, while the pillion driver suffered injuries.
The incident follows after the heartbreaking road accident in Dergaon, where 12 people, including children and women, lost their lives on Wednesday. This incident has further intensified the grief and concern throughout the entire state.
The drivers of the two vehicles were instantly dead. Critically injured patients were referred to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH), while the injured were rushed to Dergaon Civil Hospital. Many others have also been injured in this incident.
The accident occurred due to dense fog, as reported. It is revealed that the collision took place when the truck, travelling from Margherita towards Tinsukia’s Tilinga Mandir, confronted the bus heading towards Tinsukia. The incident was indeed alarming, causing severe damage to a portion of the passenger bus in this foggy weather. Locals alleged that the accident took place due to the slow pace of construction work on the national highway.
Accidents have been reported on the national highway on several occasions. Therefore, this consecutive incident calls for a thorough investigation and this has created major concern for the locals and travellers out there as both the incidents claimed several lives.
