On November 26, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the commencement of construction for the longest flyover in the state, at a cost of Rs 888 crore, spanning from Dighalipukhuri to Bamunimaidan. Pledging to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity in the area, the project is set to be completed by 2026.

Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasized the importance of community cooperation for the successful execution of this significant infrastructure project, urging everyone to collaborate during its construction. The goal is to achieve the completion of this crucial initiative by 2026.

Sarma also made his announcement on the Social Media platform X.

Following the recent opening of the Shraddhanjali Flyover on Zoo Road in Guwahati on October 18, 2023, coinciding with the auspicious Maha Panchami, this announcement closely follows. The newly added flyover has already demonstrated its crucial role in alleviating traffic challenges within the city.

The push for enhanced infrastructure gained momentum with the opening of Maligaon’s ‘Nilachal Flyover’ on August 30, 2023.

In October 2022, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma formally inaugurated the Arya Nagar Flyover. With an estimated cost of around Rs 149.07 crore and spanning 790 metres, the Arya Nagar Flyover has played a crucial role in enhancing the area’s infrastructure.
