AIUDF leader Badruddin Ajmal stirred controversy with a statement regarding Congress leader Bhupen Borah in the lead-up to the Lok Sabha election.
Ajmal asserted that if Bhupen Borah runs for the Kaziranga Lok Sabha seat, he would gain support from elephants, dogs, cats, and monkeys.
Addressing the media, Ajmal stated, “The victory of Congress is solely attributed to the support of AIUDF… even if Congress secures victory in just one seat, it is because of us… we have explicitly conveyed to the public that in areas where we are not contesting, they should cast their votes in favor of Congress.”
Continuing the discussion on Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi, Ajmal claimed that if Gogoi runs in the Nagaon constituency, it might lead to a potential competition for vote share with AIUDF. However, if he contests from any other constituency, AIUDF will extend complete support to him.
In response to a query about whether Ajmal would endorse Bhupen Borah in the Kaziranga constituency, the AIUDF leader remarked, “My dear friend is heading to Kaziranga to canvass for votes from elephants, cats, dogs, and monkeys, and he will succeed.”
Regarding support for Bhupen Borah in the Kaziranga constituency, Ajmal asserted that he would encourage like-minded voters to support Borah. However, he emphasized that Borah is essentially running independently.
