Assam: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-corruption, Assam, apprehended a police sub-inspector on Wednesday for allegedly accepting a bribe.
“The accused, Suruzul Haque, is a sub-inspector of police at Nagaon police station in Assam,” officials added.
According to them, the operation was led by a team from Assam’s Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption.

“The team set up a trap at the accused’s office and apprehended him accepting a portion of the demanded bribe from the complainant in exchange for giving him relief in an old pending case,” they stated.
Officials stated that necessary legal action is being taken.

The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Assam, caught two government employees red-handed collecting bribes last month.
Kanak Chandra Baruah, Lat Mandal, Office of the Revenue Circle Officer, Kalaigaon in Udalguri district, and Dilip Borah, Gaonburah, were detained. (village headman).

Rajib Saikia, CPRO of Assam police had informed that, a complaint was received at the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Assam, alleging that Kanak Chandra Baruah, Lat Mandal, Office of the Revenue Circle Officer, Kalaigaon in Udalguri district in conspiracy with Dilip Borah, Gaonburah of No.1 Amguri, Kalaigaon had demanded Rs 10,000 as bribe from the complainant for processing land mutation documents of the complainant.
On Monday, the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption agents apprehended a Lat Mandal in Assam’s Karimganj.
Joyshab Hussain Laskar, the Lat Mandal, is posted in the Circle Officer’s Office in Karimganj’s Badarpur region.
Laskar was apprehended while taking money from the complainant for the processing of his land mutation activities.
