The Orang National Park (ONP) in the Darrang and Sonitpur districts of Assam reopened for tourists on Saturday after remaining shut for several months in view of the flood fury. Orang National Park has been officially opened for tourists on 1st October i.e. Saturday. With necessary precautions, it opened to explore the gateway to the Orang National Park and the Orang Tiger Reserve Forest.

Orang Park has become a center of attraction for tourists for various animals.

Ramul Boro, a park employee on the front lines, opened the Orang National Park entrance. It is important to note that Boro received this recognition from the park administration since he has served his duty in the park honestly for a long time.

RTI activist Dilip Nath claimed that the current administration is undermining Orang National Park by failing to undertake critical development initiatives.

According to RTI activist Dilip Nath, the government places less emphasis on publicizing The Orang National Park than it does Kaziranga, which has led to a decline in visitors to The Orang National Park.

Tourists now, not long after the park was opened, take in its beautiful scenery. There are a lot of visitors to Orang Park. Many animals, including elephants and rhinoceros, are seen by tourists.

In 2016, Govt declared Orang as Assam’s newest tiger reserve. The tiger reserve status of Orang National Park makes it the fourth in the state and the 49th nationwide. Wildlife conservationists applauded the decision, which they had long demanded in order to safeguard the big cat in Orang and in the forest corridor that links it to the more well-known Kaziranga reserve.

On the other hand, Kaziranga National Park Authority gears up for the 2022-23 tourism season. On October 15, the Kaziranga National Park will reopen to tourists. However, if the weather causes adverse conditions, some changes may occur on a specific day.

It is worth noting that the national park opens a jeep safari for tourists every year on October 1 and an elephant safari on November 1, but due to adverse weather conditions, park authorities were forced to close the park to tourists this time.
