Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma approved a proposal to increase government employees’ dearness allowance by 4% as a holiday gift on Sunday.

Following the chief minister’s official announcement, the Dearness Allowance will increase from 34% to 38%. The raise will take effect in July 2022, but will be paid with this month’s salary.

Taking to Twitter, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sharma said, “Happy to announce 4% additional Dearness Allowance for State Govt employees/All India Service Officers w.e.f. 1st July 2022, payable with this month’s salary. Hope this will add to the festive fervour.” “Also extending my good wishes for an auspicious and happy Deepawali!” he added.

The Assam government’s decision comes after the union cabinet approved the release of an additional installment of Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief at a rate of 4% to central government employees and pensioners in September.

Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said after the cabinet meeting that the union cabinet has approved the release of an additional installment of Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief at a rate of 4% to central government employees and pensioners.

This was the second increase in central government employees’ dearness allowance this year. The government announced a 3% increase in DA in March 2022. This increase took effect on January 1, 2022.

Earlier this month, the Haryana government decided to give its employees a Diwali treat by increasing Dearness Allowance from 34% to 38%.

Announcing on Twitter, the Assam CM wrote, “Happy to announce 4% additional Dearness Allowance for State Govt employees/All India Service Officers w.e.f. 1st July, 2022, payable with this month’s salary. Hope this will add to the festive fervour. Also extending my good wishes for an auspicious and happy Deepawali!”

On October 19, CM increased the daily duty allowance of state home guards from 300 to 767. The state government stated in an official notification that the hike will take effect immediately. After this raise, a home guard’s monthly salary will be $23,010.

Dearness Allowance is a cost-of-living adjustment allowance paid by the government to public sector employees and pensioners. It is paid by the government to assist employees in dealing with persistently rising prices as a result of high inflation. It is calculated as a percentage of government employees’ basic salary.
