Assam Govt to start rebuilding infrastructure which was washed away by flood and landslide from September

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said that the state government willstart re-establishing infrastructure from next month.

“Our assessment of infrastructure dame is underway and we will start infrastructure rebuilding works from September this year”, Sarma said during a press conference at Janata Bhawan.

He also announced the disbursement of funds for the survivors.

“ we will disburse an amount of Rs.119.10 crores as flood rehabilitation funds through direct benefits transfer to those affected. Till now, 180 people across 34 districts have lost their lives due to flood and 19 people have died in landslide”, he said.

According to (ASDMA) Assam State Disaster Management Authority, nearly 8.9 million peoples in the state have been affected by flood and landslide that struck Assam this year.
