The Assam government has declared January 22 as a “dry day”, for the consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The choice was made at the cabinet meeting that was held in Guwahati on Sunday, along with several other significant resolutions.
An architectural wonder, situated in Ayodhya, the temple spans 360 feet in length, 235 feet in width, and rises to a height of 161 feet. Larsen & Toubro, who provided their services without charge, are building it.
Declaring a “dry day” is one of several actions the Assam government has taken as part of a larger series of events to mark the opening of the Ram Mandir, a site of great spiritual and cultural significance.
In an X post, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa announced that the Assam Cabinet had decided to establish January 22 as Dry Day in honour of Ram Lalla’s Pran Pratishtha. “Decisions we took in today’s meeting of the Assam Cabinet. ‘Dry Day’ on 22.01.2024 on the occasion of Pran Pratishtha of Shri Ram Lalla Virajman“.

Consecration ceremony:
Preparations are already under way for this occasion, which is anticipated to draw thousands of dignitaries and attendees from all spheres of society. From one week prior to the major celebration on January 16, Ayodhya will host Vedic rituals for the Pran-Pratishtha (consecration) ceremony of Ram Lalla (baby Lord Ram).
More than 6,000 people are expected to attend the event in Ayodhya, along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other chief ministers from states ruled by the National Democratic Alliance.
On January 22, Lakshmi Kant Dixit, a priest from Varanasi, would conduct the principal ceremonies of Ram Lalla’s consecration. The Amrit Mahautsav will be celebrated in Ayodhya from January 14 to January 22.
Additionally, there will be a 1008 Hundi Mahayagya, where thousands of devotees will receive food. In order to accommodate the thousands of pilgrims that are anticipated to arrive in the Uttar Pradesh temple town for the ceremonial consecration, many tent cities are being built in Ayodhya.
