Assam: Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister of Assam, has reaffirmed his defamation threat against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who visited the northeastern state on Sunday. He also stated that he would visit Delhi, but instead of accepting the Chief Minister’s invitation to tour the city, he stated that he would only go to locations that he could “google myself.”
The feud between the two leaders began with speculation about Mr. Kejriwal’s upcoming visit to the state for a political rally.

Mr Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party has made advances in BJP-ruled Goa and Gujarat, in addition to winning in Delhi and Punjab. Assam appears to be on his list, along with Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh, all of which have elections this year.
Mr Sarma termed the Delhi Chief Minister a “coward lying behind the shroud of immunity in the Delhi assembly and speaking white lies” last night.
pic.twitter.com/0woWaA33qe

In response to Kejriwal’s tea invitation, Himanta Biswa Sarma stated, “We treat our visitors as if they were God. Yet, when Aurangzeb visited Assam, Lachit Barphukan did not extend him any hospitality. Why should we consider you visitors when you come to Assam to lie? Yet, I supplied you with security, which you do not. I tweeted multiple times during Covid, but you never responded. Please respect our privacy. We shall remain khaas aadmi rather than aam aadmi.”
Did Lachit Barphukan provide any hospitality to Aurangzeb? So what kind of hospitality was Arvind Kejriwal expecting in Assam? pic.twitter.com/JJs15rofnu

Last year, Mr Sisodia accused the Assam government of awarding contracts to Mr Sarma’s wife’s company and son’s business partner to supply Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) kits at market rates during the Covid epidemic in 2020.
Mr Sarma launched a defamation suit against Mr Sisodia in July and vowed to sue Mr Kejriwal in the same month.
He pledged to do the same this evening.
