Assam Budget 2023: The Assam government presented a Rs 935.23 crore deficit budget for the fiscal year 2023-24 on Thursday, announcing funds to promote micro-entrepreneurship and new recruitments in various departments. Finance Minister Ajanta Neog said during the budget presentation in the assembly that the government will invest Rs 5,000 crore to “transform” over 2 lakh unemployed youths into job creators.

Taking into account the public account expenditure of Rs 1,79,326.48 crore and the contingency fund expenditure of Rs 2,000 crore, the total expenditure for the year is estimated to be Rs 3,21,081.75 crore.”

The Minister revealed that the estimated transactions for the year will result in a surplus of Rs 660.96 crore. “This, combined with the opening deficit of Rs 1,596.19 crore, will result in a budget deficit of Rs 935.23 crore at the end of fiscal year 2023-24,” she added.
