Assam Woman Murder Case: On Sunday, a defence public relations officer (PRO) was arrested in connection with the alleged murder of a woman in Tezpur, Assam.
According to police sources, Lieutenant Colonel Amarinder Singh Walia has been serving as the defence PRO of the Indian Army’s 4 Corps.

Bandana Shree, the woman who had gone to Varanasi, has been identified. On February 14, she returned to Guwahati to meet Lieutenant Colonel Walia.
According to police, the woman was kidnapped, killed, and then dumped on the highway.
The body was taken to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for an autopsy.

On Saturday, Kamrup district police arrested Defence PRO Lt. Col AS Walia of Tezpur in connection with a woman’s murder.
Prasanta Kumar Bhuyan, IGP (L&O) and Assam Police Spokesperson, told ANI, “4-5 days ago, a decomposed body of a woman was discovered near the Changsari area in Kamrup district. Following this, a team of Kamrup district police detained and later arrested a Defence PRO from Tezpur with the assistance of Sonitpur district police.”

Today, the accused was brought before the court. The victim hails from Chennai and came to Guwahati a few days back, officials said.
