Arnamai Bora Murder Case: On January 17, the Gauhati High Court commuted the death sentences of two defendants to three years in prison after finding that they had not violated Arnamai Bora. The court said that police did not have any documentary evidence to support their claim. The Court commuted the convict’s death sentence to three years in prison based on the evidence presented.

The order for Arnamai Bora’s rape and the execution of the murderers was earlier revoked by the Gauhati High Court on December 20, 2022. Salim Uddin and Moinul Haque were given death sentences for their crimes. The execution order had been issued by the Nimma court.

Salim Uddin and Moinul Haque, who were found guilty, appealed the decision to the Gauhati High Court.

Finally, the high court quashed the execution order against them. The sentence they received has also been suspended by the high court. A division bench composed of Justices N Kateshwar Singh and Arun Dev Chaudhary rendered the judgement.

The Additional District and Sessions Judge Court of Hojai in central Assam executed the main defendant in the sensational rape and murder of 58-year-old schoolteacher Arnamai Bora in 2018. The terrible incident took place on May 31st, 2018, in the Jamunmuk district.

 

The court gave the primary accused Moinul Haque a “death sentence,” even though co-accused Salimuddin received a “life sentence.” Numerous protests were held across the state in response to the horrifying rape and murder of the school teacher. Following the incident, police opened an investigation and detained two people in connection with it. Two suspects who are suspected of participating in the rape and killing incident, Moinul Hoque and Salimuddin, were detained.

In 2018, The primary defendant in the sensational rape and murder of 58-year-old schoolteacher Arnamai Bora received a death sentence from the Additional District and Sessions Judge Court of Hojai in central Assam. The horrific incident happened on May 31st of 2018 in the district of Jamunmukh.
