The event will include masterclasses by Grammy Award-winning Mohan Veena exponent Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, workshops on a variety of creative genres, and mentoring sessions led by well-known musicians and actor Adil Hussain.
Celebrated in Majuli, Assam, Mongeet is a festival encompassing music, poetry, art, craft, food, cooking methods, native herbs, and culture. The Mongeet festival was founded in 2020 with the goal of fostering Assamese musicians who are up-and-coming. It is a movement of arts and music. It was founded by actor Adil Hussain and actor-turned-entrepreneur Kaushik Nath.
Majuli, a scenic island in Upper Assam, is set to become a creative hub when Mongeet, a music and cultural festival, takes place. There will be workshops on poetry, music, art, craft, food, cooking methods, and local herbs. The only music and cultural residency initiative in Assam, Mongeet, includes courses for a restricted group of people. The fifth Mongeet will take place soon, and apart from music, there will be residential workshops in art (Montulika), sculpture (Monmrittika), and Assamese cuisine (Aharor Akholi).
Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, a Grammy Award-winning Mohan Veena exponent, will be the star of the fifth edition of Mongeet. On January 17, he will teach a workshop in Majuli to the chosen Mongeet participants, and on January 18, he will perform for an August audience at Dekasang Sonapur.
Since its launch in 2020, Mongeet has grown to become a significant platform for supporting and developing up-and-coming artists and musicians by giving them a stage on which to display their abilities and get guidance from prominent figures in the field. The Raul Kaushik Nath Foundation and the Mongeet Foundation are in charge of organising the festival.
Internationally known actor Adil Hussain, along with musicians Joi Barua, Dhruba Jyoti Phukan, Kalyan Baruah, Rononjoy Barooah, Dwipen Baruah, Samar Hazarika, and Arup Jyoti Baruah, will mentor the participants who were chosen by a distinguished jury. Furthermore, a session on Borgeet would be conducted by Dibrugarh University Assistant Professor Jadab Bora and a group of gayan bayan from Uttar Kamalabari Satra.
