After nine days of speculation, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has named Bhajan Lal Sharma as the new Chief Minister of Rajasthan. Alongside this decision, the party has also appointed Diya Singh and Prem Chandra Bairwa as Deputy Chief Ministers. Additionally, Vasudev Devnani has been chosen as the new Speaker of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly.
The announcement came following a crucial meeting of the BJP Legislative Party held in Jaipur on Tuesday afternoon. The meeting was attended by newly elected MLAs, senior party leaders, and central observers Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, alongside two co-observers-national vice president Saroj Pandey and national general secretary Vinod Tawde from the BJP. After a brief discussion, the party unanimously decided to elect Sharma as the next Chief Minister.
Sharma, a five-time MLA from the Sanganer constituency, has a long and distinguished career in politics. He has held various positions within the BJP, including state general secretary, national vice president, and observer for various state elections.
Among the prominent contenders for the chief minister’s position in Rajasthan, a state where the BJP secured victory in the recent elections, were former chief minister Vasundhara Raje and Union ministers Arjun Ram Meghwal, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and Ashwini Vaishnaw.
