The Assam State Election Commission have announced and scheduled the much-anticipated election of the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council (DAC) for January 8.
The election will determine the representation for 28 seats, with a substantial total of 141,124 eligible voters poised to participate. The democratic process will unfold across 280 polling stations. This will be the 13th Autonomous Council election for the region.
The voting mechanism will involve the traditional use of paper ballots, commencing at 8 AM and concluding at 4 PM. To ensure transparency and observance to election standards, micro-observers have been actively appointed for each polling station.
Results of the DAC election are expected to be officially declared on January 12, marking the conclusion of this democratic exercise. As per the electoral timeline, aspiring candidates have until December 22 to submit their nomination papers.
In terms of financial regulations, candidates are restricted to a maximum expenditure of INR 4,25,000. This measure aims to maintain a level playing field among contestants.
The voting day, January 12, will be a pivotal moment for the residents of Dima Hasao as they actively contribute to shaping the future composition of the Autonomous Council.
