Irene Dkhar of Meghalaya was crowned ‘Miss Northeast 2022’ on Thursday during a glittering ceremony at the capital cultural hall in Kohima. The new Miss Northeast was awarded a cash prize of Rs 1.5 lakh as well as gift hampers. She was followed by first runner-up Eshanee Hatimuria of Assam and second runner-up Dyna Jomo of Arunachal Pradesh. Jomo received Rs 70,000, while Hatimuria received Rs 1 lakh.

Last night’s grand finale was held at Kohima’s Capital Cultural Hall. Irene Dkhar won a cash prize of Rs. 1.5 lakh as well as gift hampers.

Lika Chophy of Nagaland was named Queen of Hearts, while Manasha Devi Sapam of Manipur was named Miss Beautiful Skin.

The cash prizes for the two runners-up were one lakh and seventy thousand rupees, respectively. Subtitle winners included Miss Photogenic Eshanee Hatimuria, Miss Perfect 10- Irene Dkhar, Miss Talent Eshanee Hatimuria, Queen of Hearts Lika Chophy, Miss Beautiful Skin Mannasha Devi Sapam, and Miss Multimedia Dyna Jomo.
Although Nagaland has previously hosted the beauty pageant, this was the first Miss Northeast under the auspices of the Northeast Beauty Pageant Organization. The pageant was organised by the Beauty and Aesthetic Society of Nagaland (BASN) in collaboration with the Nagaland Government.
Dr. Sagar J Abhichandani, a celebrity dentist, was on the panel, as was Yamaha artiste Nise Meruno, designer Bambi Kevichüsa, supermodel Ketholeno Kense Vihienuo, and poet, educator, and writer Theyiesinuo Keditsu.
The second edition of the pageant will be held in Sikkim next year.
In 2021, Awiesie Kajiri Pochury and Rosalen Yanthan, both from Nagaland, were crowned Mr. and Miss Northeast 2021 on October 31 at the ITA Machkhowa in Guwahati.
