India defeated Bangladesh in the T20 International World Cup Match 2022 held at Adelaide Oval in Australia on Nov 2.
India scored 184/6 in 20 overs. Due to rain, Bangladesh’s revised target was 151 in 16 overs. India won by 5 runs.
The road was not easy for India, as Bangladesh, chasing 185, were well on their way to the target, with Litton Das slamming 50 off just 21 balls. Bangladesh were batting at 66/0 after 7 overs when the match was called off due to rain. Bangladesh would have been happier at that point, as they were 17 runs ahead according to the DLS method.
Congratulations on the massive victory #Teamindia What an intense match it was. India got back in the game with a massive bang, huge credit to all players for coming back stronger. Commendable efforts by the Bangladesh team for putting up a tough fight. #INDvsBAN #T20WorldCup2022

The rain eventually stopped, but overs were lost, leaving Bangladesh to chase a revised 151 runs in 16 overs. The break was extremely beneficial to India because the gap in play may have affected Bangladesh’s concentration, as they lost both of their openers quickly.
On the other hand, Virat Kohli surpassed Sri Lankan legend Mahela Jayawardene as the highest run-scorer in T20 World Cup history (1016 runs in 31 matches). At the start of this match, Kohli had 1001 runs in 24 matches. With a single down the on-side in the seventh over of the Indian innings against Taskin, he broke the record.
With his maiden T20I century against Afghanistan, he set the record for the highest individual score by an Indian in the game’s shortest format (122* off 61 balls). He surpassed Rohit Sharma and Martin Guptill to become the highest run-scorer in T20Is at the start of the T20 World Cup.
