India captain Mithali Raj, Yastika Bhatia and Harmanpreet Kaur each struck a half-century as they posted a strong 277/7 against Australia in their fifth match of the tournament. India recovered from two early wickets thanks to a steady partnership between Mithali and Yastika as the duo added 130 runs for the third wicket. Yastika scored 59 off 83 while Mithali made 68 off 96. Harmanpreet then stepped up with a brisk fifty, remaining unbeaten on 57 off 47. Pooja Vastrakar also played a handy knock of 34 off 28.
Australia skipper Lanning had won the toss and opted to bowl first hoping to get the benefit of conditions as it was raining in the morning. Mithali said she would have also bowled first. Both the teams have made one change each to their playing XIs. India lost their last match while Australia have been in superb form having won all their four matches of the tournament so far.
