Meghalaya Election 2023: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will hold his first election rally today in poll-bound Meghalaya (February 22). The former Congress president will hold a rally at Shillong’s Malki Ground. Rahul Gandhi will make his first public appearance since the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
It is worth noting that the Wayanad MP did not campaign for the party in Tripura, where elections were held on February 16. So far, the top Congress leadership has been conspicuously absent from the campaign trail in the three northeastern polling states of Tripura, Meghalaya, and Nagaland, with the exception of party president Mallikarjun Kharge, who spoke at an election rally in Nagaland only on Tuesday (February 21).

However, Kharge was also absent from the Tripura campaign. Addressing a gathering in Nagaland’s Chumoukedima on Tuesday, Congress President Sonia Gandhi launched a series of attacks on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), alleging that the party and its allies looted the state.
“For the past 20 years, the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and the Bharatiya Janata Dal (BJP) have pillaged Nagaland. It is past time for the people to have justice and a government that works for them “Kharge stated.
During the last election campaign in Meghalaya, Rahul Gandhi Ji attended a concert in Shillong. BJP leaders and trolls attacked him for this jacket.

Conrad, now 45, has not only carried on his father PA Sangma’s legacy by running the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) without hiccups since 2018, but has also fulfilled his father’s dream of achieving national party status for the National People’s Party in 2019. The NPP won 19 of the 60 seats in the 2018 elections, but Conrad was able to form an alliance with other regional parties and the BJP, denying Mukul Sangma’s Congress a third consecutive term.
