1st Meghalaya National Paragliding Accuracy Championship 2022 starts from 29/4/22 at Chotcholja village located in Kharkutta constituency of East Garo Hills district in Meghalaya. Meghalaya Health and Forest Minister James P K Sangma took part as the chief guest along with other officials. As a part of the opening ceremony MLA of the Kharkutta constituency Rupert Momin flagged off the adventure competition by holding a flag and flying with co-pilot Bishal chetry from Nepal.
Hundreds of paragliders took part in this competition from different states, India Army and Assam rifles personnel was also apart of the event. Thousands of local people gathered for this event and were excited for having a new event in their area, as they enjoyed the event peacefully.
MLA Rupert Momin expressed his excitement and told that this Paragliding sport will be the part of the Meghalaya tourism and thankful to the Meghalaya government and chief minister Conrad k. Sangma who provided financial assistance for organising this game. He also added that the purpose of this event is for tourist attraction, employment opportunity to youth and economical improvement.
James P K Sangma, Minister of Health and Forest, who took part as the chief guest in the event said that It is a matter of pride for Meghalaya that a national paragliding accuracy championship has been hosted by the state for the first time. I feel that the event will not only help Meghalaya showcase its natural beauty but also boost tourism in the state.
