Representatives from 15 opposition parties in the state assembled in Dibrugarh on Thursday for a two-day conclave with the objective of devising strategies for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The conclave, hosted by the United Opposition Forum Assam(UOFA), united key political parties including Congress, Assam Jatiya Parishad, Raijor Dal, Jatiya Dal-Asom, Aam Aadmi Party, TMC, NCP, CPI, CPM, CPI(ML), RJD, Janata Dal (United), All India Forward Bloc, All Party Hill Leaders Conference, and Shiv Sena (UBT).
On October 5, the UOFA announced to the press that they had resolved to nominate a joint candidate in every constituency against the incumbent BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha Polls in Assam.
Their objective is to present a unified candidate in each constituency against the Saffron party with the aim of putting an end to what they perceive as the mismanagement and ongoing corruption saga of the government.
At a political convention in Dibrugarh, the Forum endorsed a region-specific shared manifesto for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Moreover, inspired by the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), the United Opposition Forum Assam (UOFA) also endorsed a “chargesheet against the BJP” at the convention.
On the second day of the convention today, the leaders of the Forum spoke to the workers and representatives of their respective political parties at the District Library in Dibrugarh.
