Vice-President Election to be held on August 6

The Election Commission on Wednesday (June 29) announced that the elections, if needed, to choose the next Vice-President of India will be held on August 6.

The EC further added that the counting of votes will also be held on the same day.

The Election Commission will issue the notification for the elections on July 5 while the last date to file the nominations will be July 19.

The scrutiny of nomination will take place on July 20 and the last date for withdrawal of application is July 22.

Members of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, including nominated members, form the electoral college for the vice-presidential election.

Venkaiah Naidu’s term as vice president ends on August 10.
