A part of an under- construction tunnel between Silkyara and Dandalgaon on the Brahmakal- Yamunotri national highway in Uttarakhand, collapsed around 5.30 am on Sunday, where 40 workers got trapped inside the tunnel.
Among the 40 workers from different regions of the Country, two were from Assam, namely Ramprashad Narzari and Sanjay Basumatary.
Reportedly it has been 6 days since they were trapped inside the tunnel.Officials said that the workers are safe and are being supplied food and water through steel pipes that have been drilled into the opening.
Relief and rescue operations have continued for the 7th consecutive day today to rescue the trapped workers. The Prime Minister’s Office is actively overseeing the situation, maintaining continuous communication with the State government. Deputy Secretary Mangesh Ghidiyal visited the site on Saturday, inspecting relief and rescue operations and providing essential directives.
Families of the trapped workers have reached the site and are losing hope. The brother of one worker emphasised the urgent need for a swift rescue to prevent the workers’ health from worsening.
