Rajya Sabha to fill 13 seat in 6 States on April

Election to fill13 Rajya Sabha seat across six states falling vacant in April. Members from Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Tripura and Nagaland are retiring on 2 April while five member from Punjab are retiring on 9 April.

“Out of the five seat to be filled from Punjab, three are to be filled by holding one election and two are through another election as these seats belongs to two different biennial cycle’’ the election Commission give in a statement.
The notification for the biennial election will be issue on March 14 and the polls will be held on March 31. As per established practice, the counting will be held on the day of polling from 5 PM onward.
Some of the famous name from the retiring list are A.K Anthony from Kerala Anand Sharma from Himachal Pradesh Pratap singh Bajwa and Naresh Gujral from Punjab.
The Rajya Sabha nomination for Punjab will depend on the performance of the Parties in the state state Assembly polls.
Five seats are falling vacant from Punjab, three from Kerala, two from Assam and one each from Himachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Tripura.
