On Thursday, the BJP faced criticism from the Congress for not announcing the chief ministers in the three states it secured in the recent assembly elections, prompting questions about why the party is not facing criticism for what essentially amounts to a delay.
In a statement on X platform, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh remarked that within less than a day of the December 3 election results, his party faced media criticism from various quarters for an alleged delay in appointing a chief minister for Telangana.
Jairam Ramesh highlighted, “We declared our Chief Minister a day earlier, and A Revanth Reddy took over office at 1 pm today,” referring to the swearing-in of A Revanth Reddy in Telangana. However, he highlighted that three days have passed, and the BJP has yet to announce chief ministers for Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan. Ramesh asked why critics are not criticizing the BJP for what is, in fact, a delay.

In the recently concluded Assembly elections, the BJP secured a decisive victory in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh, dealing a significant blow to the Congress and reinforcing its dominance in the country.
This substantial win provided a major boost for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, setting a formidable tone for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Despite losing Rajasthan and Chattisgarh, the Congress found some solace as it managed to unseat the Bharat Rashtra Samithi in Telangana amid the saffron wave.
