The voice of a generation, singer Krishnakumar Kunna who was in Kolkata for a concert, died at the age of 53 on Tuesday night. Popularly known as KK, the singer is suspected to have suffered a cardiac arrest, according to news report. He was rushed to the hospital after falling ill in his Kolkata hotel room, shortly after performing a live gig at the Nazrul Mancha auditorium.
The singer was declared “brought dead” to Kolkata’s CMRI Hospital around 10 pm, hospital authorities said.
Krishnakumar Kunnath, whose stage name was KK, was known for songs like ‘Pal‘ and ‘Yaaron‘, which went on to become big hits among teens, are often heard during school and college farewells and teen cultural events.
The singer had earlier posted photos from his concert at Kolkata’s Nazrul Mancha.

One of the most versatile singers of the Indian film industry, KK has recorded songs in several languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telegu, Kannada, and Bengali, among others.
He is survived by his wife and children.
