Administration removes loudspeakers from temples and mosques in Uttar Pradesh

The Uttar Pradesh government till Wednesday removed 10,923 loudspeakers illegally installed in religious ceremonies. And instead reduces the intensity of noise emitted from 35,221 loudspeakers to the allowed level.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered the removal of loudspeakers from all religious institutions in the country’s largest state. State Additional Director General of Police Prashant Kumar has reported in the media that 10923 loudspeakers have been removed from 12 administrative circles in the state till Wednesday following a high court order.

It may be recalled that the highest number of 2395 mics have been removed in the capital city of Lucknow. This is followed by Yogi Adityanath’s home district  The withdrawal from Gorakhpur is 1788 mics. The top police official said that before taking this step, the police administration had reached a consensus by discussing with the religious leaders in the state.
