At least 25 pilgrims were killed and 5 injuredafter a bus they were travelling in fell into a gorge near Damta in Uttarkand Uttarkashi district on Sunday evening.
According to officials of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), which is involved in the rescue and relief operation along with the district administration, 25 bodies have been recovered and the five injured people taken to a nearby hospital. The passengers were on their way to Yamunotri Dham in Uttarkashi.
“ A very tragic incident took place today, involving the accident of a bus of pilgrim from Panna, Madhya Pradesh. 25 people have died. We are putting all relief efforts. Both district magistrate and Superintendent of police have been sent to the spot, union home minister has sent an NDRF team.”Uttarkand CM Pushkar singh Dhami said..
Prime minister announce an ex-gratia of 2 lakh each deom PMNRF for the next of kin of those who lost their life in accident, Rs.50,000 each for the injured.
The Prime Minister has announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each from PMNRF for the next of kin of those who lost their lives in the accident in Uttarakhand. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000 each.
