After Sri Lanka and Thailand, Vietnam is considering granting visa-free entry for Indians, as reported by the Vietnamese news agency VnExpress.
Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung has batted for short-term visa waivers for key markets like China and India to boost tourism.
During a conference chaired by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Wednesday, Minister Hung also proposed visa waivers for visitors from affluent nations such as Australia, Canada, the US, and the remaining 20 members of the 27-member EU.
As of now, only citizens of Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Sweden, and Finland enjoy visa-free entry to Vietnam.
If this materialize, Vietnam will be the third nation, following Sri Lanka and Thailand, to grant Indians to enter visa-free.
In October, the Thai government informed a news agency that it would grant visa-free entry to tourists from India and Taiwan, starting from November 10 and extending to May 10, 2024.
