Sri Lanka’s President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has fled Sri Lanka on Saturday. As per thr reports, protesters demanding the leader’s resignation stormed the compound of his residence.
Sri Lanka, the country 22 million people is struggling under a severe crisis that has limited essential imports of fuel, food and medicine, plunging it into the worst financial turmoil in seven decades.
Thousands of anti-government protesters poured into the capital on Friday demanding Rajapaksa to quit over the country’s worsening economic crisis.
On 8 July, an indefinite curfew was imposed across Sri Lanka’s capital and the military placed on alert ahead of a planned rally demanding the ouster of embattled President.
The video surfacing in the social media shows that the pool was surrounded by a mob of protesters waving the country’s national flags.
