Silchar submerge under Barak water

Silchar town of Cachar has been witnessing one of the most devastating flood in years this season with almost all the area of the city remained submerged for the last 48 hours.

A total of 57 relief camps have been set up in Silchar to shelter those displaced by the deluge. With the River Barak continuing to flow over the danger mark, parts of Silchar have been submerged. SDRF and NDRF personnel are on the ground assisting those in need of help.

The condition further deteriorated with no electricity as almost all the  sub-station submerged.

Meanwhile, in a first in the history of Assam, the Indian Air Force will carry out a massive airlift exercise. The IAF will airlift 1 lakh 8 thousand litres of petrol and diesel to silchar in Barak valley which has been badly hit by the deluge.
