After a letter from the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) surfaced, requesting Rs. 1 lakh for obtaining a party ticket for Lok Sabha seats in the state, Cabinet Minister Pijush Hazarika criticized the party for demanding a “non-refundable fee” in exchange for a Congress ticket.
Hazarika mocked the Congress, stating that the opposition has turned into a symbol of hypocrisy.
He pointed out the irony, mentioning that this group protested when the Assam Government imposed a modest processing fee of Rs. 300 for police permissions, yet they are now charging an application fee of Rs. 1,00,000. Hazarika made these remarks on platform X.
This development follows the circulation of a letter by APCC, where the party invited individuals interested in contesting the forthcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections and applying for the party ticket for any of the 14 Lok Sabha seats in the state.
Nevertheless, applicants are required to contribute Rs. 1 lakh as a ‘donation fee’ to the party.
This same cabal was protesting when the Assam Government charged a nominal processing fee of ₹300 for police permissions and today the cabal is charging ₹1,00,000 application fees!
The Opposition has become a symbol of hypocrisy and people can see through this. https://t.co/3Qr7wNAdgO
