The Office of the District Elementary Education, Assam on Tuesday (August 9) ordered all school authorities of Kamrup (Metro) district to hold the morning assembly inside the classrooms due to the scorching heat.
“I would like to inform you that keeping in mind of the scorching heat, all Govt/ provincialized/ Private schools are hereby requested to hold the morning assembly inside the classrooms. Only special days, it may be celebrated at the assembly field,” Inspector of Schools, Prasanna Borah wrote in a letter to all schools principal/head master.
The order comes following the death of a 10-year-old girl student of a school in Guwahati. As per reports, the girl allegedly suffered heat stroke after the school authorities held a condolence meeting in the school campus on August 4 in which students had to stay under the scorching sun for almost an hour.
