India Meteorological Department issued red alert for Assam till 16 June

Water logging remained in several parts of the city because of the incessant rain since Monday night.

The overnight drizzle hasn’t helped things improved. As a precautionary measure, the district administration directed all educational institution in Kamrup Metropolitan to remain close for a day.

Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Assam till 16 June.

It is to be mentioned that at least 5 people have lost their lives in the floods and landslide in Guwahati prompting the district administration to issue an advisory urging people to not venture out of their houses unless its essential. Those living in landslide-prone areas have also asked to temporarily shift to safer locations.

Relief camps have also been set up to shelter affected people and essentials are being supplied to those in need.
