Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said efforts are on to remove Arm Force Special Power Act (AFSPA) completely from northeast region.
Addressing a “Peace, Unity and Development” rally in Karbi Anglong Diphu he said, the Arm Force Special Power Act (AFSPA) could be withdrawn from various part of northeast region as the law and order situation in the region has improved in the last 8 years.
In a major outreach to a northeast region, the Centre had announce reduction of disturbed areas imposed under the Arm Force Special Power Act (AFSPA) in Nagaland, Assam, Manipur from 1st April after decades.
PM also said that, the effect of BJP ‘double engine’ government is evident in the return of permanent peace and speedy development in Assam.
