Congress leader Rakibul Hussain has demanded an ED investigation into the contract comments made by BJP Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah.
The leader of the Congress portrayed Baruah as a former colleague who was “simple and calm” in the past but who has now adopted a combative style and is competing to damage the reputations of others. Hussain criticised Baruah’s personal attacks on senior officials, including Gaurav Gogoi, Bhupen Borah, and himself.
Accusing the particular allegations made by Baruah on November 11, Hussain made it clear that he was not going to take any contracts and that he found Baruah’s remarks to be inappropriate.
On November 11, Jayanta Malla Baruah announced contract offers of Rs 25 crore, Rs 30 crore, and Rs 40 crore to Bhupen Borah, Rakibul Hussain, and Gaurav Gogoi, respectively, if they join BJP under the Jal Jeevan Mission, overlooking ideological disparities.
