Assamese aerospace engineer Priyanka Rajkakati is embarking on a life-changing journey to Antarctica.
The organizers of the global program “Homeward Bound” chose Priyanka, a 27-year-old Assamese woman, in its fifth edition, which organizes leadership trips to Antarctica for female scientists.
According to the French Embassy in India, Rajkakati is one of the 75 women chosen for the program from across the globe and she is one of the youngest Indian-origin women to be selected.
Despite being born and raised in Delhi and presently residing in Paris, Priyanka maintains close ties to her Assamese heritage.
Hence she wants to be the first Assamese woman to flaunt Assam’s cultural pride- the Gamosa, and to pay homage to Assam’s identity in the polar world of Antarctica.
She claimed in an exclusive interview with the media before leaving for Antarctica.
