Assam records 590 new Covid cases and 1 death

A total of 590 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected in Assam on Wednesday (July 13), the highest in over five months.

Earlier on Tuesday (July 12), 434 cases were detected in the state.

The new cases were detected out of 5,489 tests that were conducted during the day.

The test positivity rate in the state was recorded at 10.75 per cent on Wednesday.

Among the fresh cases, highest number of cases were reported from Kamrup Metro (60), Kamrup Rural (59), Dhubri (55) and Goalpara (50).

With the addition of fresh cases, the total number of active cases in the state now stands at 2,584.

Meanwhile, one patient from Kamrup Rural district succumbed to the infection on Wednesday.

Further, 190 patients recovered on Wednesday. The COVID-19 recovery rate in the state stands at 98.55 per cent.

The daily fresh cases of coronavirus, which had dipped to zero in the State on March 10, is showing an upward trend since the last month.

Meanwhile, India reported 20,139 new cases recorded in the last 24 hours.
