Assam: Assam Police recovered 50 packets containing 5 lakh Yaba tablets from a cargo in Bagador, Silchar, on April 3.
During the operation, the police force caught two narcotics peddlers and confiscated a shipment from Burma via Bagador in Silchar district.
The total value of the seized consignment is believed to reach in crores in the international market.

According to sources, 50 packets carrying 5 lakh yaba tablets were confiscated in Silchar’s Bagador area.
The massive shipment of Yaba tablets was on its way from Myanmar to Mizoram when it was stopped in the Bagador district.
The seized yaba tablets are thought to be worth crores in the market.
Meanwhile, two drug peddlers were caught in connection with the seizure.

Earlier on March 23, the Cachar Police seized up to 150,000 Yaba tablets from Silchar.
According to sources, the seized tablets had a market value of Rs. 15 crore.
The tablets were discovered in a high-end automobile.
The cops seized the massive shipment from a source named Lalswamalina.
In February 2023, In Assam, drugs worth more than Rs 23 crore were seized.
According to Karbi Anglong Superintendent of Police Sanjiv Saikia, a joint team of state police and CRPF seized 5 kg brown sugar from a person travelling in a bus to neighbouring Nagaland on the basis of a tip-off.
Sunil Kumar, a native of Bihar’s Siwan district, was arrested after the bus was intercepted in the Bokajan area, he added.
The seized substance is worth more than Rs 15 crore on the international market.
In a separate instance, police said heroin worth Rs 8 crore was recovered in Guwahati, and three people were apprehended.
