Police arrested Nip Pratim Baruah, a 31-year-old from Bamun Moran Gaon village in Gaurisagar, Sivasagar district, for posting a death threat to Minister Atul Bora on Facebook.
Reports revealed the incident when a local news media published a video package on Assam’s cabinet minister Atul Bora, in which a user named Pranash Shandilya claimed that a plan had been made to bomb the official quarter.
The Facebook user commented, “Atul Bora quatert bomb plant r plan kora hoise. Ami ULFA r pora sob kori asu. Besi din jiyai nathakee ee (A plan has been made to plant a bomb at Atul Bora’s quarter. We from the Ulfa are doing everything. You will not live for too long).
Assam’s DGP Gyanendra Pratap Singh has directed the CID to initiate legal proceedings regarding a death threat against Bora, which has resulted in an arrest in Gaurisagar, Assam. The CID, through investigation, traced the user behind the Facebook account that posted the threat.
Assam’s DGP G.P Singh has posted on the social media platform X about the detention of the youth behind the threat.
