Leader of Opposition in Rajasthan and senior BJP leader Gulab Chand Kataria appointed governor of Assam

His Excellency the President has issued a notification for the change of Governor in many Indian states. Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari and Ladakh LG Radha Krishna Mathur have both resigned. Gulab Chand Kataria, the leader of the Opposition in Rajasthan, has been appointed Governor of Assam.

Lieutenant General Kaivalya Trivikram Parnaik has been appointed Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, while Laxman Prasad Acharya has been appointed Governor of Sikkim, CP Radhakrishnan has been appointed Governor of Jharkhand, Gulab Chand Kataria has been appointed Governor of Assam, and Shiv Pratap Shukla has been appointed Governor of Himachal Pradesh.

BJP leaders Lakshman Prasad Acharya, CP Radhakrishnan, Shiv Pratap Shukla, and Gulab Chand Kataria, who is also the Rajasthan Leader of Opposition, have been nominated as governors of Sikkim, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Assam, respectively.

Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais took over for Koshyari, and Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig BD Mishra took over for Mathur (retd).

Gulab Chand Kataria is a Bharatiya Janata Party politician (BJP). He served as Rajasthan’s home minister from 2014 to 2018. He is a senior leader in the BJP and a member of the party’s central working committee.
Kataria succeeds the current Governor of Assam in the midst of changes to the position for several states. According to reports, as many as 13 Indian states will have new governors.

Meanwhile, it was reported that India’s President Droupadi Murmu accepted the resignation of Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari.

The resignations of Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh RK Mathur have been accepted, according to a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique.
