Assam: Central Govt gives Rs 520 crore more to Assam as disaster relief fund

Assam: The central government approved an additional 1,816.162 crore in central assistance to Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Meghalaya, and Nagaland in the event of natural disasters such as floods, landslides, and cloudbursts in 2022.

A high-level committee chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah made the decision, demonstrating the central government’s resolve under Prime Minister Narendra Modi to assist the people of the five affected states, according to a Home Ministry statement.

 

The National Disaster Response Fund will provide additional central assistance to these states (NDRF).

Of the total central assistance of 1,816.162 crore, Assam has received 520.466 crore, Himachal Pradesh has received 239.31 crore, Karnataka has received 941.04 crore, Meghalaya has received 47.326 crore, and Nagaland has received 68.02 crore.

This additional assistance is in addition to the funds released by the Centre to the states in the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), which are already available to the states, according to the statement.
