An Army officer identified as Major Shailendra Yadav, serving in the Assam Rifles, and his wife Kimmy Ralson have been apprehended by the Haflong police in connection with a child abuse case that has sparked outrage in the Haflong region.
Major Shailendra Yadav, who was previously stationed in Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh, found himself at the center of this troubling case. During his tenure in Haflong, he had wedded Kimi Ralson, a Haflong town resident. Following Major Shailendra Yadav’s transfer from Haflong, Kimi Ralson brought a young girl from Sankijang village to assist with household chores.
However, the situation took a grim turn when reports surfaced that Kimi Ralson had subjected the child to severe abuse. Allegations include instances of physical torture, scalding the child with hot water, and forcibly removing her clothing. The child was recently returned to her family in Haflong after enduring these experiences.
The police investigation unveiled a harrowing journey for the child, as she was transported from Himachal Pradesh to Guwahati by an individual from Himachal before ultimately reaching Haflong with Kimi Ralson.
In response to the child’s revelations of torment and maltreatment, her family filed a formal complaint with the Haflong police station. As a result, Kimi Ralsen was apprehended in Haflong.
Major Shailendra Yadav and Kimmy Ralson were presented before the additional court of the Haflong judicial magistrate, which ordered their judicial custody.
The victim’s mother, while demanding justice for her daughter’s ordeal, decried the inhumane treatment inflicted by the Army major and his wife. The young girl is currently receiving medical care at the Haflong Civil Hospital.
The incident has triggered public outrage in Haflong, with the women of Sanpijang village staging a protest outside the Haflong police station, demanding stringent action against the accused couple.
