APSC 2014 scam: On Thursday, the Biplap Kumar Sharma Commission served notices on two gazette officers in connection with the 2018 Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) recruitment scam.

DSP Bhanita Nath and Superintendent of Excise Manavi Das have been identified as the two gazette officers.

The commission has ordered that the two officers appear in court within 15 days.

According to the allegations, DSP Nath obtained the position of APS through unethical means, and the same allegations were levelled against Excise Superintendent Das.

The BK Sharma Commission received a large amount of information, which was used to issue the notices to the two officers.

As the Justice (retired) Biplab Kumar Sharma Commission’s investigation into the Assam Public Service Commission’s (APSC) cash-for-job scam reveals significant irregularities against the accused officers, problems for 37 gazetted officers assigned to various departments of the Assam state government worsen.

According to the most recent update in the ongoing investigation into the cash-for-job scandal, the judicial panel inquiry has directed DGP Guwahati to investigate the 37 officials’ involvement in the APSC 2014 cash-for-job scam, with the possibility that all of the officers will be arrested very soon.

The Assam Public Service Commission’s 2014 scam has surfaced once more. Several new facts (APSC Appointment scam) of the APSC 2014 scam have already been sent notices by the Justice Biplab Sharma Commission to DSP Bhanita Nath and Excise Superintendent Manabi Das on suspicion of being involved in this APSC scam.

During interrogation, Pavitra Kaivarta, the then-controller of examinations of the commission involved in the examination scam in the Assam Public Service Commission, revealed many details about the scam in the 2014 examination (APSC Appointment Scam). The Justice Biplab Sharma Commission issued notices to the two gazetted officers and directed them to appear before them within 15 days based on this information.

It is also likely that many more officials will come under the Commission’s scrutiny as the investigation process continues and new information about the Assam Public Service Commission scam emerges. The Retired Justice Biplab Sharma Commission, which was formed to investigate the 2014 gazetted officer recruitment scam that occurred during Rakesh Pal’s tenure, had already summoned several gazetted officers.

In September 2022, Bharat Bhushan Dev Choudhury, the newly appointed chairman of the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC), has reportedly been served with a notice by an inquiry commission in connection with an alleged’scam’ in the CCE 2014.

The Justice (Retd) BK Sharma commission of inquiry has served the notice.

Notably, Bharat Bhushan Dev Choudhury, the current APSC chairman, was the Principal Controller of Examination (PCE) during CCE 2014.
