Kaushambi: In a shocking incident, a Data Protection Officer (DPO) physically abused a female employee of the Women’s Welfare Department in the Uttar Pradesh district of Kaushambi.

The incident gained attention after a video of it went viral on the internet.

On Wednesday, a case was filed against the District Probation Officer (DPO) for molesting a female contractual employee working in his office, according to a senior police officer here. Brijesh Kumar Shrivastava, Superintendent of Police (SP), stated that a video of DPO Ramnath molesting a female employee went viral on social media.

“On the basis of a complaint, an inquiry was conducted in which the incident was prima facie confirmed, and a case was filed against DPO Ramnath on the employee’s complaint,” he explained. According to District Magistrate Sujit Kumar, the DPO was seen in the video inappropriately touching the victim worker and forcibly holding her hand. He also stated that obscene chats sent from the DPO’s WhatsApp number had been discovered. He stated that the accused officer’s behaviour is completely contrary to the UP Government Servants Conduct Rules, and that the government should take disciplinary action against him.

In the video, the woman is seen handing a file to the officer when he pulls her toward him and inappropriately touches her.

According to reports, the victim woman stated, “The officer frequently harassed me, so this time I made a video without his knowledge.”

“He frequently messaged me obscene pictures and used to video call me and speak on unwanted things,” the woman added.

The officer has been identified as Rajnath Ram, and the case is currently being investigated.
