Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, has hired another Indian-origin man Sriram Krishnan to assist him with the company’s overhaul after firing CEO Parag Agrawal.

Elon Musk is making significant management changes at Twitter, assembling a team of advisers to assist him in running the show. Alex Spiro, Musk’s personal lawyer who is acting as Twitter’s de facto general counsel, Andrew Musk (Musk’s relative who is associated with the brain-interface start-up Neuralink), Jehn Balajadia (COO of The Boring Company), David Sacks (political donor), Jason Calacanis (a VC and longtime friend of Musk), and Sriram Krishnan are among those who are assisting him (a former Twitter product leader and current VC at Andreessen Horowitz).

So, who is Sriram Krishnan?

Sriram Krishnan, 37, is a former Twitter employee and general partner at Silicon Valley venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (also known as a16z), which invested in Musk’s takeover of Twitter. Mr Sriram is also a director of Bitski, Hopin, and Polywork.

Mr Krishnan, an engineer and renowned technologist, was born in Chennai and earned a BTech in Information Technology from SRM Engineering College, Anna University. According to the New York Times, he was born into a “typical middle-class Indian family” and immigrated to the United States when he was 21 years old. His father worked in the insurance industry, and his mother was a stay-at-home mom.

Sriram has held executive positions at Twitter, Yahoo, Facebook, and Snap, and was hired earlier this year by Andreessen Horowitz, one of Clubhouse’s lead investors. His wife, Aarthi Ramamurthy worked at Netflix before launching two start-ups in 2012: True and Co., a lingerie e-commerce site, and Lumoid, a service that allows people to try out gadgets before purchasing. She joined Facebook in 2017 as a product director before moving on to Clubhouse to help it expand into new markets.

His tech career began in 2005 with Microsoft, where he primarily worked for the Windows Azure division. He worked on projects such as Twitter’s main timeline, creating new UI for the platform, search, and audience growth, among others. He also worked on mobile advertising products at Facebook (now Meta) and Snap.

According to his LinkedIn profile, he joined Andreesen Horowitz in 2021, which is a major investor in Clubhouse, a social audio app that was released in 2020. Mr Krishnan has made 23 investments to date, the most recent of which was a Seed Round for Lasso Labs on October 4. The investments raised $4.2 million for Lasso Labs.
